Dear Members,

Last Friday a report was submitted by a member describing issues with our route-server BGP prepending communities as listed at https://ix.nz/service/peering/technical/.

The following BGP communities were not working correctly:
1:PEER_AS (Prepend once to specified peer)
2:PEER_AS (Prepend twice to specified peer)
3:PEER_AS (Prepend thrice to specified peer)

We have confirmed the issue and applied a fix to Route Server 2 across all NZIX exchanges today.

This notification is for member awareness that this fix will be deployed on all Router Server 1 instances tomorrow: 27/05/2021 @ 2pm NZST and from that point on Route Server exports will be identical.

Peers may notice traffic shifting as the prepend communities will now be functioning correctly. Members are advised to check traffic paths to ensure routing conforms with your desired policy.

If you have any questions or issues, please contact us at peering@ix.nz or call via +64 9888 9221
